Warburton & Darcy garden Club

Warburton and Darcy Estate in London Fields has worked in partnership with Groundwork Hackney on a number of projects, over a number of years including railings around the garden and the development of the garden itself, incorporating seating and pathways. Warburton 1:
warburton 2: The process of working on these projects fostered confidence and the skills required to become involved in the maintenance of the estate, dealing with local authority decision-makers, engaging other local residents and exchanging information and knowledge with the wider community.
The garden club, made up of tenants and residents of the estate, was the first such club and remains one of the most successful. With initial assistance from a gardening consultant, they built upon the skills already developed, enabling them to deal with gardening and plant care issues.The project not only furthered the self-determination and skills base of the community but has also added to the social environment on the estate by providing activities of mutual interest. The project was funded by the estate committee’s environment fund and NLCB funding . warburton 3:
