| A hard-working team of tenants
and residents led by the Welshpool Estate Committee Vice-Chair, Derik Trollope,
created a garden to be proud of at Welshpool House. A formerly featureless
grassed area, the garden now sports rockeries, flowerbeds and a Swiss-style
summerhouse. Inspired by the success of the garden, tenants and residents
are planning to install a Roman-style arch at the entrance to the estate,
designed by East End artist, Christopher Owen. |

The garden club members hope to
be able to meet regularly and keep the garden well looked after as well
as enjoy the added facilities such as seating and a barbecue area where
families can socialise. The Gardening Club, based in Haggerston near Broadway
Market, celebrated the success of their new garden with a Garden Party attended
by Deputy Mayor Laz Oleforo. Their work has been funded by a generous grant
from Linklaters and Alliance, a firm of city solicitors and supported by
Groundwork Hackney. |
